Abstract

Scavenging by wild snakes is behavior rarely reported, possibly due to the inconspicuous life history of most species. Herein, we report the first observation of scavenging behavior in the Neotropical green racer snake Philodryas patagoniensis (Girard, 1858) which was found consuming a road killed bird in Rio Grande do Sul state, southern Brazil.
